Do you know why 8 strand steel wire ropes are recommended for port lifting and handling?
The steel wire rope structure used in port lifting and unloading is currently mostly 6 or 8 strands wire rope in the market. The common 6-strand steel wire ropes are 6*36WS+IWR, 6*29Fi+IWR, and the tensile strength are 2160mpa, 1960mpa, 1870mpa.
Our suggestion is to gradually choose 8 strand wire rope, such as 8*31WS+IWR, 8*36WS+IWR, why choose 8 strand wire rope, because 8 strand wire rope is softer than traditional 6-strand wire rope, and because it is a metal rope core, better impact resistance and frequency resistance; the contact surface between the 8 strand wire rope and the drum and the pulley is larger, which reduces the contact stress between the surface steel wire and the wheel groove and improves the fatigue resistance.
Portal cranes and container ship unloaders are recommended to use 8-strand steel wire ropes; with the continuous deepening and improvement of steel wire rope production technology and water quality, we currently have higher requirements for 8-strand steel wire ropes, and traditional line contact 8-strand steel wire ropes in In the production process, technologies such as compaction and forging are adopted to increase the breaking force of the wire rope and further improve the service life of the wire rope, which is what we call the surface contact wire rope.
Common models of surface contact wire rope used in port lifting or loading and unloading equipment are 8*K36WS+IWR, 8*K31WS+IWR, 8*K26WS+IWR.
We should not only choose the appropriate wire rope for port lifting, but also consider the requirements of the reel and pulley for the wire rope, and the ratio between them should be greater than 25~35.
